Dispatch systems in the Middle East are set to become a whole lot smarter thanks to a game-changing new software package. Developed by Russia-based Elcomplus and distributed across the Middle East region by the leading communications distributor, Minerva, SmartPTT forms the futuristic beating heart of an automated dispatching system, harnessing the considerable benefits of the Motorola Mototrbo digital platform.

The deal is a natural progression for Minerva as it seeks to consolidate its position as the Middle East and Africa region's leading 'one-stop-shop' two-way radio solution distributor and technical support provider.

Available in Arabic and attuned to regional laws across the Middle East, SmartPTT is a bold technological acknowledgement that mere voice communication via a radio network is insufficient for today's multilayered dispatch requirements.

The trend towards new solutions is being driven by consumers increasingly demanding better functionality such as more efficient bandwidth use, greater flexibility and prioritization of calls, monitoring of subscriber movements, enhanced subscriber-specific equipment management functions, and greater integration with IT infrastructure.

Current systems simply cannot cope, and are being stretched to breaking point.

SmartPTT offers peerless functionality for radio dispatch including GPS monitoring (monitoring of Mototrbo subscriber radios with embedded GPS-receiver), data transmission and storage, as well as telephone interconnect (calls between Mototrbo Radio and telephone subscribers).

What's more, users can reboot the dispatch paradigm on their own terms by working in "mixed mode", enabling some sites to operate in analog and others in digital, allowing for the gradual upgrade to the latest radio technology standard.

With an ability to manage subscriber networks of any size and topology, SmartPTT is both cost-efficient, saving considerable money compared to control-station based solutions, and highly scalable.

"As the leading two way radio distributor in the region, Minerva is excited to distribute SmartPTT in the Middle East. The software package's application for the Mototrbo range is a natural addition to the digital radio age and allows companies to efficiently adapt it to cope with their dispatching needs," said Richard Wilcox, Sales Director, Minerva.

Alexey Otchalko, SmartPTT Product Manager, Elcomplus, added: "SmartPTT's major objective is to enhance horizons of Mototrbo technology by providing intelligent dispatching and bridging solutions. Advanced functionality and flexibility are strongly focused on our customer needs and to open new opportunities in the implementation of professional digital radio systems. Together with Minerva we are really excited to bring these cutting-edge technologies to the Middle East.
