Hytera Communications Co. Ltd. and Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG agree on the sale of Rohde & Schwarz Professional Mobile Radio GmbH (PMR).

Munich/Bad Muender, Jul 26, 2011 - Hytera Communications Co. Ltd. and Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG agree on the sale of Rohde & Schwarz Professional Mobile Radio GmbH (PMR). The largest Chinese provider of professional mobile radio equipment and solutions and Rohde & Schwarz signed the contract on July 20.

In the past few months, Rohde & Schwarz PMR and Rohde & Schwarz jointly looked for a new strategic partner that would allow the TETRA specialist to realize its full potential. Chinese Hytera was selected because the company excellently complements Rohde & Schwarz PMR as a manufacturer of TETRA infrastructure products. Hytera is a solution provider with a wide base and a large product portfolio that also includes terminal equipment.

Dr. Georg Haubs, President and CEO of Rohde & Schwarz Professional Mobile Radio GmbH, states: "Partnering with Hytera will give us a competitive edge especially in projects involving a large or continual demand for terminal equipment. Moreover, we will get better access to the Asian market. This means enormous growth potential in the field of professional mobile radio. We also have high expectations in the Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) business."

The new owner takes over Rohde & Schwarz Professional Mobile Radio GmbH unchanged including all employment relationships, contracts and customer relations. The Bad Münder location will be maintained - a decisive criterion for Rohde & Schwarz when selecting a buyer.

Established in 1981, Rohde & Schwarz Professional Mobile Radio GmbH joined the Rohde & Schwarz group in 1988 - at that time under the name R&S BICK Mobilfunk GmbH. In 2009, it became a 100 % Rohde & Schwarz subsidiary and was renamed.
