Intrinsically safe radio now offers broader frequency coverage and higher output power for hazardous-area operations worldwide

TP Radio, the Danish-based manufacturer of private mobile radio (PMR) equipment, has announced a major upgrade to its TP9000EX DMR handheld radio, extending its frequency coverage to span the full 400 to 520 MHz range in 12.5 kHz narrowband spacing. The enhancement gives operators in hazardous and demanding environments a single intrinsically safe device capable of supporting the UHF land mobile bands used across markets globally.

The updated TP9000EX is certified to ATEX and IECEx standards for use in gas, dust and mining environments, and carries IP67 ingress protection for operation in harsh field conditions. The radio also delivers a full 2-watt output, offering extended range compared to the 1-watt handhelds commonly used in similar applications. TP Radio said the upgrade was developed in direct response to customer demand for a wider-band solution suited to critical operations in sectors such as underground mining and offshore energy production.

With design, development and manufacturing carried out entirely in-house, TP Radio has positioned the enhanced TP9000EX as a flexible option for organisations operating, supplying or managing radio communication systems in hazardous areas. The company serves sectors including fire and rescue services, police, defence, security, marine, industrial and oil and gas operations, and continues to supply both standalone radios and complete system solutions built around its product range.

The expanded frequency support broadens the TP9000EX's applicability across international UHF allocations, giving operators in hazardous-area industries a wider range of deployment options with a single certified device.
