Dutch Safety Region Selects Firecom and FireServiceRota for New Two-Way Pager Deployment
Following completion of a European tender procedure, Firecom B.V. and FireServiceRota have been awarded a contract to supply Veiligheidsregio Fryslân with next-generation two-way paging equipment for its fire service and crisis personnel
Veiligheidsregio Fryslân, the Dutch safety region covering the province of Friesland, has concluded a European public tender process for the renewal of its two-way paging infrastructure. The procurement has resulted in an agreement with Firecom B.V. and FireServiceRota, who will jointly supply Firebrigade Fryslân and the region's crisis functionaries with new communications equipment over the coming years.
Under the terms of the agreement, Firecom B.V. and FireServiceRota will provide Swissphone C35 two-way pagers, along with associated accessories, to support alerting and communication for fire service personnel and crisis officials across the region. The contract also covers Brandweerrooster, the platform used for scheduling, resource management and availability tracking within the fire service.
The implementation phase for the new devices and systems is scheduled to begin after the summer period. Veiligheidsregio Fryslân expects the Swissphone C35 pagers to be fully operational and in active use by early next year, following completion of the rollout and transition process.
The move reflects a broader trend among European safety and emergency services to modernise legacy paging infrastructure while maintaining dedicated, resilient alerting systems alongside broadband and mission-critical communications developments. Two-way paging continues to serve as a reliable, low-latency alerting mechanism for fire and crisis response personnel, particularly in regions where guaranteed message delivery and battery endurance remain operational priorities.
Further details regarding the implementation timeline and technical specifications of the deployment are expected to be released as the project progresses.
