Global PTT Unveils P0 ATEX PoC Radio for Hazardous Environment Communications

Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

Global PTT, a Chinese prover of one-stop communication solutions for international markets, has announced the launch of the P0 ATEX Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) radio, an intrinsically safe device engineered for deployment in hazardous and potentially explosive environments. The product addresses growing demand for standards-compliant connectivity in safety-critical operational settings.

The P0 ATEX supports instant, wide-area group communication over cellular networks while meeting stringent intrinsic safety certifications for use in classified hazardous zones. Aimed primarily at fire and emergency response teams, the device enables frontline responders to maintain uninterrupted contact with command centres throughout emergency operations.

The radio is also suited for broader industrial deployment across oil and gas, mining, utilities, and critical infrastructure — sectors where intrinsically safe communications are a regulatory necessity. The launch reflects the wider market trend towards hybrid solutions that integrate PoC technologies alongside traditional Land Mobile Radio (LMR) infrastructure, offering extended coverage and greater operational flexibility.

"Firefighters rely on communication systems that are not only reliable, but also safe to use in the most challenging environments," said Kindwood Chen, CEO of Global PTT. "The P0 ATEX PoC radio has been developed to meet these requirements, enabling emergency responders to stay connected and operate with greater confidence and efficiency in hazardous conditions."
