First responders are getting a major boost in their wireless communications with the addition of a new, purpose-built FirstNet(link is external) cell site near Craters of the Moon National Monument.

The new FirstNet site near Craters of the Moon will provide enhanced coverage in a remote area of the state that is known for its harsh environment. This new infrastructure is a part of the FirstNet network expansion taking place across the state, bringing increased coverage, capacity and capabilities for public safety.

“The new FirstNet site near Craters of the Moon National Monument will provide critical coverage for public safety responding to emergencies in a remote part of the state with unique public safety challenges,” said Tara Thue, president, AT&T Mountain West States. “FirstNet allows for interoperable communication between responding agencies, which is key in an area like Craters of the Moon.”
