irst responders in Transylvania County are getting a major boost in their wireless communications with the addition of a new, purpose-built FirstNet cell site and other network enhancements. This new infrastructure is a part of the FirstNet network expansion taking place across the state, bringing increased coverage, capacity and capabilities for public safety.

This new site brings coverage to an area southeast of Brevard, between Brevard and Cedar Mountain, including parts of Greenville Highway and Cascade Lake Road, which will help improve the overall coverage experience for AT&T wireless customers as well as first responders on FirstNet in the area.

“Whether we’re talking about closing the digital divide, keeping people connected, or delivering the communications capabilities first responders need, private investment is vital,” said state Sen. Chuck Edwards, District 48. “That’s why I am continually working for public policies that encourage the deployment of advanced technology in all parts of our state, not just the major cities. This tower is good news for those who put their lives on the line to serve the community, as well as folks traveling through the southern part of the county.”
