Chickasaw County’s ( a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi) need for a radio communications project inches along after the supervisors heard potential plans for a system linking the county to state and federal agencies. Motorola Solution’s Doug Flynn presented a budget proposal allowing new communication towers, mobile and portable radios, base stations and pagers to provide a 95 percent coverage rate throughout the county. The price tag is over $3 million.

ISCIS or the Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications system started in 2015 and construction began a year later allows for agencies on all levels to communicate freely without interruption. Departments like the Iowa State Patrol and DNR use the service. Worth county is the closest in the area who utilizes ISCIS. The supervisors had questions surrounding how feasible and expensive it is. The next step is for the presentation to go to the EMA Commission.
