PSTA releases initial industry and public safety recommendations on cybersecurity

Consistent with the purpose and mission of the PSTA, the PSTA Board of Directors is pleased to release the Cybersecurity Technical Subcommittee report, which includes the initial PSTA recommendations for public safety and industry. The Cybersecurity Subcommittee was established to provide best practices and checklists to ensure security benchmarks for small and medium/large public safety agencies are met. The intent of the report was to help agencies embrace cybersecurity while being practical in its approach to implementation. The report should serve as an agency reference of resources that are available to assist with the security of technology solutions for first responders. It will also allow industry to provide consistent guidance on best practices for implementation. The Subcommittee’s recommendations are being made based on input and ongoing discussion among PSTA industry and public safety membership, and have been formulated leveraging this industry and public safety expertise as well as publicly available open standards and related information.

As PSTA considers additional, relevant, information provided within the Cybersecurity Subcommittee, it will update and release any changes to its recommendations as necessary. The current report version can be viewed when clicking the 'Read More' link below.
