Motorola Solutions has launched a new smart two-way communication radio device, a handy and tiny device that will compete with the existing enlarged handheld Motorola radio device.

Although the new radio device, which was first launched on February 25, 2012 has not been faked, the company says copies of the existing enlarged radio device are currently been faked in the market.

According to Motorola Solution, manufacturers from Asian counties reproduce the bulky radio device by compromising its original quality and smuggle them into the Nigerian market at cheaper rates.

Introducing Mototrbo SL 4000, the new smart and tiny radio device in Nigeria for the first time on Tuesday this week, Director of Sales, Africa and Middle East for Motorola Solutions, Laurent Tribout, called on corporate organisations and customers of Motorola radio device to watch out for genuine products before making purchase.

According to him, the faked device looks like the original device in appearance, but lacks quality and durability features. He insisted that customers should demand for authorised Motorola certificate of the dealer before making purchase or confirm from other accredited reseller partners and distributor partners, or download the software to ascertain the genuine nature of the device.

Speaking on the features of the newly launched Mototrbo SL 4000, Africa Sales Manager for Motorola Solutions, Mr. Nicolas Coussinoux, said: “It is a digital two-way radio device, different from the existing analogue radio, and comes in a tiny and light design that makes it handy and easy to pocket like the mobile phone.”

According to him, “it is flexible with easy text messaging solution that increases efficiency and productivity for security personnel, Police, military, and security workers. It comes with Bluetooth and can share information using Bluetooth.

Confident of its efficiency and output, Tribout said since the new Mototrbo SL 4000 is completely digital, over 50 per cent of its customers out of its 40 million customers globally, are expected to go digital by the end of 2012, with the new Mototrbo SL 4000.

According to Tribout, while the existing Motorola two-way radio remained valid since it was specially designed to function under rain, in water, dust and under heavy vibration, the new Mototrbo SL 4000 could be used indoors to communicate with security personnel in the field, since it was not designed to function under rain or in water.

The beauty of the newly launched Mototrbo SL 4000 is that it is more compact, easier to carry, and could be easily placed in the breast or side pocket like the mobile phone, while still having all the capabilities of the existing bulky Motorola two-way radio device.

Giving details of its partnership category, Tribout said Motorola has two partnership categories: Motorola Distributor Partnership and Motorola Re-seller Channel Partnership.

While the Distributor Partners buy in bulk from Motorola Solutions and create local partners and get them accredited and trained, the Reseller Partners are in charge of sales of Motorola Solutions products in the local market.

He advised customers to always identify with genuine accredited Motorola dealers, to avoid buying counterfeit products, which he said pose risk to users, aside its weak features that make it develop faults easily.
