Airwave opens new Scotland headquarters in Glasgow

In support of the changing requirements of customers in Scotland, Airwave has recently opened its new Scotland headquarters in Glasgow.
“The new, larger headquarters demonstrates our commitment to providing unparalleled support to all our customers in Scotland,” says John Lewis, Airwave COO. “As we continue to lead the development of mission critical communications, we are working closely with our customers to deliver capabilities that will enable them to take advantage of new voice and data technologies both today and well into the future.
The Airwave Network is purpose-built to meet the needs of the emergency services and covers 99% of Great Britain’s landmass. It is secure and highly resilient, with a unique backup system in place safeguarding against every eventuality, such as the recent incidents of severe weather which affected large parts of Scotland.
Over the past few years, Airwave has invested heavily in the region with the outright acquisition in 2011 of Kelvin Connect, a spin off from the University of Glasgow. Specialists in providing mobile information solutions for the public sector markets, Kelvin Connect’s Pronto eNotebook and suite of applications has been at the forefront of mobile data information management.
Airwave employs 54 people in Scotland. The growth of the mobile business has seen the Glasgow-based team grow by more than 50% since the acquisition. A further ten to 12 graduates will be recruited as software and application developers during 2014.
