Eindhoven Airport: "In the transition to our new network we kept our own programming for optimal user experience. We opted for a private network with new Motorola TETRA radios MTP3250. "

Eindhoven Airport is expanding significantly and expects to be able to handle more than 5 million passengers over the coming 10 years. That kind of growth imposes considerable demands on both the organisation and its communication equipment.

Pieter Visser, Airport Operations Manager at Eindhoven Airport: “Thirty people work at Eindhoven Airport and another 180 work for our partner Viggo. In total, we have approximately 650 people who have to communicate with each other.”

According to Visser, “Due to the airport's expansion and our partnership with Viggo, our communication needs increased substantially. We wanted more channels and the ability to contact personnel individually. On top of that, the ease of communication had to improve. Based on advice from Flash, we are now using the same group structure as with the analogue system in order to simplify the switch to TETRA for the users. Further growth will impose demands on our communication equipment, which has to be more professional. The switch from analogue to digital was a good move. The step-by-step introduction and supervision by Flash during the migration was extremely important to us.”

The TETRA system supplied consists of 1 DAMM BS421 system controller and 2 SB421 carriers, 5 MTM800 TETRA fixed mobile radios and 60 Motorola MTP850 TETRA two-way radios, including 2 explosion-proof models. A crossband repeater was also supplied for the connection between the TETRA system and the crash-intercom of the adjacent military airfield.
