German BOS TETRA network - Core network completed

62 switches have been integrated into the BOS digital radio network and coverage has reached about 79%.

With the integration of 62nd switch in May 2013, the BOS core network is now available throughout Germany. The two network management centers in Hanover and Berlin, which are responsible for the supervision and control of the BOS digital radio network, are now in use.

The switches are connecting the links of the BOS digital TETRA radio network. They ensure the trans-regional flow of data and the transfer of communications and control data between the base stations throughout the country. They also take on the multi-agency management of all participants groups of BOS network.

Four of the 62 switches are also fitted as transit centers. These ensure a superior level of traffic throughout Germany for the switch network.

Also, the contruction of the radio access network is progressing. On the 13th May, of the approximately 4,500 base stations provided at 4,300 locations, there were  3,776 locations equipped with the digital technology and 3,118 base stations where integrated into the BOS digital radio network.

The coverage of the BOS digital radio network has reached about 79% of the area of the Federal Republic of Germany. In April 2013 315.000 participants  were already registered.
