Interior Minister Wilfredo Pedraza, did not respond on alleged irregularities.

According to the online publication Peru 21, Minister Wilfredo Pedraza, response to complaints about alleged irregularities in procurement in the sector, has prompted opposition lawmakers to agree on the need to open a thorough investigation, especially in the case of the aquisition of a Tetra 2 Communication System, patrol boats and helicopters.

In the first case, the company that won the tender has already delivered a TETRA 1 system and in the other two cases (patrol boats and helicopters the tender was won by private companies instead of Government to Government organizations.

Lawmakers Javier Bedoya (PPC), Mauricio Mulder (APRA) and Octavio Salazar (Fuerza Popular) agreed that these acquisitions should be clarified, either through an investigating committee or a working group within the Defense Committee.

The three congressmen recalled that during the presentation of Pedraza minister before the full Legislature on Tuesday, March 5, the parliamentary Luciana Leon asked about the bidding for Tetra 2, while Juan Carlos Eguren did the same on the purchase of the patrol helicopters.

Need to know:

- The communication system TETRA 2 was purchased however the "outdated" TETRA 1 system was delivered.
- The Tetra 2 has a radio system that transmits data, digital images, voice and text messages.
