Dalatrafik is the first in Sweden among public companies to fully utilise the Rakel TETRA Communications network and the system is now running in full swing.

Dalatrafik has chosen Swedish Radio Supply as their supplier for Sepura TETRA mobile radios and software from Hogia. Throughout Dalarna currently there are TETRA radios installed within 270 busses. To manage the installations, fifteen engineers where busy day and night to get everything in place within the planned  schedule.

Wiklundh also says that the experience  and training of the drivers have been good. "The drivers are happy with the functionality and ease of use have already seen the result of using the new communications system.

TETRA technology is ideal for use within the Public Transport industry such as airports, subways and bus companies despite TETRA was originally conceived as a blue-light system (Public Safety) for police, fire brigade, ambulance and others. Ability to customise the system to their needs and the high sound quality are just a few benefits and explanations of why transport companies choose this technology.

There are in Sweden both private (Tetranät) and a national "Public Safety" TETRA network called Rakel. Rakel is owned and operated by the National Agency for Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) and has been expanded throughout Sweden to strengthen society's crisis management capacity and to facilitate daily communication with organisations working in Public Safety.
