Tait Communications Named PwC NZ Hi-Tech Company of the Year
The critical communications manufacturer was recognised by an international panel of judges for its sustained growth, innovation, and capacity to compete on the global stage.
Tait Communications has been named the PwC Hi-Tech Company of the Year at the 2026 New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards, claiming the sector's top honour during a gala dinner held on Friday evening at Auckland's Spark Arena. The critical communications manufacturer was recognised by an international panel of judges for its sustained growth, innovation, and capacity to compete on the global stage.
The awards ceremony drew a near-record crowd of 1,300 guests, including Government ministers and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. The PwC Hi-Tech Company of the Year award is regarded as the pinnacle of achievement within the New Zealand technology sector, attracting entrants from across the industry.
In recognising Tait, the judging panel highlighted the company's ability to maintain momentum despite its long history. The judges noted that although Tait was founded 57 years ago, it continues to innovate and move at speed on the global stage, an achievement they described as uncommon for such a well-established company. They further observed that Tait is emerging from a strong year in which it passed the half-billion-dollar revenue mark, growing both organically and through acquisition, expanding into new countries, and introducing technically advanced products that enable it to compete internationally.
Yoram Benit, PhD, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tait Communications, said the team was delighted to receive the top award.
"This reflects the dedication of our people, who work tirelessly to keep our customers safe and connected when failure is not an option," he said.
Benit added that the company was built on the legacy of its founder, Sir Angus Tait, and that the award recognised that legacy alongside the strength of the company's strategy as it continues to innovate, grow globally, and shape its future. He also congratulated the other finalists and winners, describing the awards as a celebration of the very best of the sector.
Other finalists in the PwC Hi-Tech Company of the Year category included Aroa Biosurgery, Auror, Dawn Aerospace, Gallagher Group and Halter.
Tait also sponsors the Flying Kiwi award, which recognises an individual who plays a leading role in ensuring the success of the sector. Sir Angus Tait was the inaugural recipient of the award in 2003. This year, Tait Chief Marketing Officer Maria Rowe presented the Flying Kiwi award to Vend founder Vaughan Fergusson, who will be inducted into the New Zealand Hi-Tech Hall of Fame in recognition of his entrepreneurial achievements, mentorship, and philanthropic contribution through the Pam Fergusson Charitable Trust.
The New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards celebrate the achievements of producers of goods and services across the software, electronics, telecommunications, mobile, agritech, creative, and other high-technology industries.
