JPS Joins TCCA Ahead of IWCE — Inventor of RoIP Strengthens Global Critical Communications Community

Just days before the industry converges on Las Vegas for IWCE, JPS — the US-based radio interoperability specialist and inventor of Radio over IP — has announced its membership in TCCA, the global member-led organisation for the critical communications ecosystem. The timing is apt: JPS will be exhibiting at IWCE next week, March 18–19, at Booth #1306, and will appear again later in the year at Critical Communications World in London, June 16–18, at Booth F64.

JPS has been a fixture in mission-critical communications since its founding in 1988 by Tom Jacks, Peter Pflasterer, and Don Scott — originally as JPS Communications, Inc. What began as a business focused on ancillary products for high frequency radio manufacturers has grown into a globally recognised name in radio interoperability. Among its most significant contributions to the industry is the invention of Radio over IP (RoIP) in the late 1990s, a technology that has since become foundational to Land Mobile Radio coverage expansion, remote dispatching, and cross-system interoperability. More recently, the company introduced RoIP+ in the 2020s, extending the capability further.

At its core, JPS designs and manufactures solutions that allow diverse radio frequencies to communicate with one another and with a wide range of audio devices — from mobile phones and landlines to satellite phones and internet-connected systems. The result is communications infrastructure that is more versatile, more secure, and more resilient, serving users across Public Safety, Military, Government, Oil and Gas, and commercial sectors. The company's stated mission reflects that purpose directly: to help others and save lives.

The decision to join TCCA signals a deliberate push towards deeper engagement with the European market and the broader international critical communications community.

"Joining TCCA was a strategic decision for us, as the platform provides invaluable access to European integrators and technology partners whose vision aligns with our products and solutions, strengthening our opportunities for growth and collaboration,"said Todd Dixon, JPS President.

TCCA, for its part, welcomed the move."JPS has a long history in critical communications, and we are delighted to welcome the JPS team to TCCA's global community," said TCCA CEO Kevin Graham. "We look forward to the expertise and innovation they will bring."

Beyond RoIP and RoIP+, the JPS portfolio includes Push-to-Talk over Cellular integration and wide area communications solutions for LMR coverage expansion — a broad offering that positions the company well for the evolving demands of mission-critical users worldwide.
