German State Secretary Hans-Georg Engelke Visits BDBOS Headquarters
State Secretary acknowledges BDBOS's commitment and the significant role the agency plays in Germany's security policy landscape.
State Secretary Hans-Georg Engelke of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) visited the headquarters of BDBOS on March 5, 2026, for a comprehensive briefing on the current status and future direction of Germany's public safety digital radio critical communications network and the federal government's communications infrastructure.
BDBOS President Jens Koch and Vice President Frank Buddrus welcomed State Secretary Engelke, who was accompanied by Dr. Pamela Müller-Niese, Head of Division CI 5, and Daniel Mühlner, Advisor, from the BMI's BDBOS supervisory authority.
In a joint meeting with department heads and committee representatives, Engelke received a detailed update on the BOS digital radio network serving Germany's public safety authorities and organizations, as well as on the networks of the federal administration. The briefing highlighted the critical importance of a nationwide, standardized, secure, highly available, and broadband-capable communications infrastructure for public safety — and underlined the need for continued expansion of the federal government's networks.

The visit concluded with a meeting with the management of ALDB GmbH, BDBOS's technical operating company for the BOS digital radio network, including a tour of the network management center responsible for overseeing both the BOS digital radio network and the federal government's networks.
