SELEX Communications, a Finmeccanica company, will have a major presence at the 2010 Farnborough International Airshow

SELEX Communications, a Finmeccanica company, will have a major presence at the 2010 Farnborough International Airshow, which will take place from July 19th to 25th, as part of an exhibition area within Finmeccanica's stands OE1 and OE2. The capabilities on display include:

- in the “Air systems” area: the M 425 and M 427 transponders, the new generation of IFF (Identification Friend-or-Foe) transponders for both fixed and rotary wing-platforms, as well as within the naval sector; the radio V/UHF SRT-651; the ICS - Internal Comunication System console, for fixed and rotary wing-applications to ensure the integrated monitoring of the whole range of military communications (radio communication, data link, internal and external communication infrastructures); the MIU - Mids Interface Unit; the LOAM (Laser Obstacle Avoidance & Monitoring) system for detecting and avoiding obstacles in helicopter flight at low altitude; the 1090 ES ADS-B receiver, the solution for Air Traffic Situational Awareness which allows to locate and identify aircraft en route or on airport surfaces with reliability and accuracy; the radio HF SP-2310 and a video on the abilities of Sirio Panel, a company controlled by SELEX Communications, leader within the sector of control panels and cockpit lighting systems;

- in the “Joint Operations” area: the equipments of Future Soldier, the Italian Army modernization program of which SELEX Communications is the centre of expertise for the implementation and integration of the system architecture, developing most C4ISTAR (Command & Control, Communication, Computer, Information/Intelligence, Surveillance, Obstacle Acquisition and Reconnaissance) area systems; the Software Defined Radio, that offers cutting-edge technology for interoperating radio communication systems; the tactical radio WRS504 transmitter for military vehicles to provide a substantial increase in the transmitting capacity on the operational scenario; the Guardian to inhibit RCIEDs (Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices).

In addition, within Finmeccanica's Integrated Capabilities Area - conceived to show the Group's technologies and expertise in support of the whole security life-cycle - SELEX Communications presents two video demonstrations:

- an operating system based on TETRA technology - a mobile radio communication system focused at those who work for citizens' safety and territorial safeguarding and who need to rely on high performance and quality, especially in mission critical conditions -- associated with making safe a major sport event;
