Sepura staff have made a donation of £2,500 to Alzheimer’s Society, gathered from staff donations collected from a host of events held during lockdown to support the charity.

Many charities have found fundraising particularly challenging during the Covid pandemic and Alzheimer’s Society has been no different. Sepura staff chose to support the charity following a company-wide vote, with many expressing a desire to support a charity that had provided valuable support to friends or family in the past.

Events were mostly online or socially distanced, including online quizzes, footgolf, karting and a sweepstake based around the summer’s Euro 2020 tournament. Sepura’s HR Director Joe McHugh was delighted to have the chance to hand over a cheque to the charity.

Sepura’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme is an integral part of working at Sepura. Led by SEpura's Staff Social Team, the company aims to be an active employer in the communities in which they operate. It is important to Sepura as an organisation to offer opportunities to all their staff to engage in charitable initiatives, and despite the problems presented by the pandemic management of the company are proud of the efforts the team have made to support our chosen charity.

Steve Barber, CEO at Sepura add “It is a privilege to support Alzheimer’s Society, a valuable organisation who are doing such important work in an area which affects to many people. We are grateful to our team at Sepura for pulling together in difficult times to raise these funds.”

Nicola Gardner, Alzheimer’s Society Community Fundraiser for Cambridgeshire, said: “Our supporters have stepped up in all kinds of ways during the pandemic, to make sure people affected by dementia continue to get the support they need when they need it most. It’s thanks to fundraisers, like the staff at Sepura and their efforts to help raise money, that our services can make sure no-one faces dementia alone.

The money raised will help services such as our Dementia Connect support line, which has proved to be a lifeline to so many over the last few years. By uniting against dementia, Sepura is helping to support more than 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK including more than 9,000 people across Cambridgeshire.”
