Ericsson, Ooredoo Qatar Team Up for 5G Transformation in Oil, Gas and Other Sectors
The collaboration aims to create industry-specific 5G solutions by developing private or dedicated 5G networks for sectors like manufacturing, airports, and oil and gas, utilising Ericsson's Private 5G technology.
Ericsson and Ooredoo Qatar have entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to accelerate digital transformation across enterprises and public sectors in Qatar.
The collaboration focuses on developing industry-specific 5G solutions, particularly through private or dedicated 5G networks for sectors such as manufacturing, airports, and oil and gas, supported by Ericsson’s Private 5G technology.
Ericsson Private 5G aims to enhance network performance, providing secure, high-speed connectivity with its advanced dual-mode core and radio technology. The partnership is set to deliver mission-critical solutions for public safety, digital airspace, and rail, ensuring robust network availability, security, and quality of service.
The collaboration also explores sustainability initiatives, leveraging 5G to reduce environmental impact and decarbonise industries. Ericsson and Ooredoo aim to progress towards Net Zero by sharing knowledge and resources. Under the MoU, Ericsson will provide its Private 5G and mission-critical solutions, introduce ecosystem partners, and engage in joint discussions to promote 5G-enabled sustainability.
Ooredoo Qatar is expected to benefit from faster market entry, new revenue opportunities, and support for the unique connectivity needs of enterprises, fostering sustainable digital growth.
