Kontron Transportation Signs Major Service Contract with SNCF

Kontron AG, a world-leading provider of IoT technology, announces the conclusion of a service contract with SNCF France (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français) worth hundreds of millions of euros. The contract is the logical continuation of the long-standing partnership between Kontron Transportation and SNCF, which has existed since 2003.

With this significant contract, Kontron Transportation underscores its strong expertise in producing mission-critical communication systems that meet current customer needs, and positions itself as a reliable and long-term trusted partner in the technology transition from GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communication – Railway) to the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS).

As a driving force in defining future communication standards, Kontron Transportation offers its customers a smooth migration and coexistence between GSM-R and a next-generation communication standard such as FRMCS.

This contract ensures the continuous development of the mobile communication system toward FRMCS until it is approved and fully implemented for use in customer networks.

It also secures the ongoing existence of a comprehensive core network as well as a specially developed, AI-supported knowledge database from Kontron.
