Cybertel and Subsidiary TWnC Awarded Operation and Maintenance Contract for Korea's SafeNet Public Safety Network
The network has operated as the country's mission-critical communication infrastructure, supporting hundreds of public safety organisations and more than 230,000 field devices nationwide.
Cybertel, together with its subsidiary TWnC, has been awarded the operation and maintenance contract for SafeNet, Korea's nationwide disaster safety communication network, with the engagement running through March 2029.
SafeNet is Korea's nationwide public safety LTE (PS-LTE)-based network, established to enable unified communications among public safety agencies during disasters and large-scale emergencies. Since its official launch in May 2021, the network has operated as the country's mission-critical communication infrastructure, supporting hundreds of public safety organisations and more than 230,000 field devices nationwide.
The network incorporates advanced mission-critical technologies including MCX and eMBMS, supporting stable group communications even when large numbers of responders are concentrated within a single operational area. To date, SafeNet has demonstrated the capability to support mission-critical group communications for approximately 15,000 public safety personnel gathered in the same location.
Under the maintenance contract, Cybertel and TWnC will share responsibility for sustaining the nationwide infrastructure. Cybertel will support Help Desk operations and provide Speech-to-Text (STT) solutions, enabling first-line field user support, technical assistance, and more efficient use of voice-based operational records. TWnC will be responsible for core network operations, network monitoring, security monitoring, inter-agency network integration, and overall operational management, helping to ensure service continuity and network security across the infrastructure.
The agreed scope of support encompasses SafeNet operation and maintenance through March 2029, core network operation and network security monitoring, Help Desk support for public safety users, STT solution support, MCX-based mission-critical group communication maintenance and support, and operational support for nationwide public safety communication services.
The companies indicated that the project will further strengthen their expertise in nationwide mission-critical network operations. According to Cybertel, experience gained through SafeNet operation and maintenance, STT-based operational support, MCX service maintenance, and TWnC's core network operation is expected to serve as a foundation for future 5G-based public safety next-generation radio (PSNR) and next-generation public safety communication projects.
As mission-critical communications continue to evolve toward AI-assisted operations, intelligent service management, and next-generation public safety networks, Cybertel stated that it intends to expand its role as a technology partner supporting safer and more resilient communications.
