Reliable networks drive demand for Push-to-Talk-Over-Cellular devices. Manutec’s contract manufacturing brings flexibility and quality to Aina PTT production.

As demand for Push-to-Talk-Over-Cellular (POC) devices continues to grow, Aina PTT is strengthening its production capabilities through a renewed partnership with Finnish subcontractor Manutec. Located in Salo, just a short distance from Aina PTT’s headquarters, Manutec brings decades of experience in both high-tech electronics assembly and large-scale mechanical manufacturing. This makes Manutec an ideal partner for ensuring agility, scalability, and top-tier quality in Aina PTT’s production.

A Trusted Partnership Based on Expertise and Proximity

The collaboration has now expanded to include the complete assembly of the Aina PTT Voice Responder device — from initial pre-assembly and electronics integration to audio and button testing, software programming, laser marking, labelling, packaging, and final delivery.

“Manutec is a familiar supplier and located right here in Salo, which made it natural to approach them again,” says Jari Vuorinen, CEO of Aina PTT. “They offered us a strong proposal and have the technical capability to deliver the flexibility we need as our production scales.”

Now Manutec handles a significant portion of Aina PTT’s total production, with capacity adjusted according to market needs.

“Next, we’ll monitor how production volumes develop and evaluate how efficiently this line can meet our overall requirements,” Jari Vuorinen adds.

Continuous Improvement

“Aina PTT’s products are built for demanding environments, so they must be extremely durable and easy to use, even with gloves,” Jari Vuorinen explains. “Manutec knows our product requirements well, and we’re looking forward to their input on how to make assembly faster and even more efficient.”

Aina PTT and Manutec are also exploring ways to further enhance product sealing and durability. “One of our goals is to reach a higher IP rating without adding extra seals,” says Vuorinen. “If Manutec can help us refine the mechanics to achieve that, it would be extremely valuable.”

Growing Market Demand

Founded in 2011, Aina PTT was among the first companies to bring POC technology to practical use: devices that function like traditional radios but operate over cellular networks instead of limited radio frequencies. As reliable mobile networks expand worldwide, the shift from radio communication to POC solutions is gaining strong momentum.

Aina PTT’s main markets include North America, Europe, and Japan. In North America, POC devices are increasingly used in logistics and fleet operations, while in Europe, major deployments serve civil authorities such as police, firefighters, hospitals, and customs agencies.

“The high cost of traditional radio systems and the widespread availability of reliable networks have made POC an attractive, cost-effective alternative,” Vuorinen explains.

Scalable Production Through Open Collaboration

At the heart of Aina PTT’s collaboration with Manutec is the goal of achieving scalable, reliable, and lean production. The focus lies on consistent delivery quality, minimal defect rates, and adherence to strict ISO standards.

“Our expectations are clear - quality awareness, lean thinking, and process-driven manufacturing,” says Jukka Porkka, Aina PTT’s COO. “We also value Manutec’s ability to ramp up production quickly whenever demand peaks. Fast response times are essential to keeping our customers satisfied.”

For Jari Vuorinen, transparency is one of the most important aspects of working with a contract manufacturer:

“Challenges always arise in production. What matters most is open communication — identifying issues early, addressing them together, and keeping our customers informed. The sooner we see potential changes, the easier it is to respond effectively.”
