Zebra Technologies to Acquire Elo to Accelerate Connected Frontline Experiences
Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a global leader in digitizing and automating frontline workflows, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Elo Touch Solutions, Inc. for $1.3 billion in cash. Elo is recognized for innovative interactive touchscreen and automation solutions across retail, hospitality, QSR, healthcare, and industrial markets.
The acquisition will combine Zebra’s expertise in frontline hardware, software, and services with Elo’s strengths in consumer-facing kiosks, payment, and edge computing solutions, creating a more comprehensive portfolio to meet evolving customer needs. “This acquisition is a key step in our strategy to accelerate the connected frontline,” said Bill Burns, CEO of Zebra Technologies. “Elo’s portfolio expands our addressable market by about $8 billion and enhances our ability to deliver digital, automated solutions.”
Elo’s solutions modernize point-of-sale (POS), self-service, and automation workflows—complementing Zebra’s recently launched kiosk offerings. According to Zebra’s 17th Annual Global Shopper Study, 78% of shoppers report self-checkout options improve their experience. The combined company will be well-positioned to lead as POS and self-service technologies evolve.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
