Backup Power based on fuel cells
Since 2003 Dantherm Power has been committed to commercialize the fuel cell technology. In 2005 Dantherm Power launched the first hydrogen powered backup solution for telecom communication networks.
The solutions from Dantherm Power are complete power supply and backup solutions designed and configured to be installed in both in- or outdoor applications for telecom and IT networks. The solutions can be configured as both integrated and stand-alone modules.
The backup power modules provide an instant and reliable power in case of grid power outage and can directly replace existing backup power units or UPS solutions like batteries and diesel generators.
The backup power modules are based on the PEM fuel cell stack technology and include a fully integrated power management with various configuration possibilities. The technology used is comparable to a stand-alone power generator running on liquid fuel like diesel and gasoline and in principle operates like a battery.

Dantherm Power, through its affiliate, Dantherm Air Handling, is to be the first company in the world to provide backup power based on hydrogen and fuel cell technology for a complete, nationwide public safety network also referred to as a Tetra network.
Dantherm Air Handling has received an order for Denmark’s new public safety network, SINE, which includes delivery of a large number of its outdoor cabinets with cooling together with hydrogen and fuel cell based power backup from Dantherm Power.
The terror threat has led to a greater need in Denmark, as in other countries, for a public safety network with reliable backup power. The network has to ensure that the various authorities are always able to maintain contact with each other in any emergency situation, such as a major accident or event. The SINE network will consist of approx. 450 sites spread throughout Denmark.
