he Gorgon project will develop the Greater Gorgon Area gas fields with the capacity to provide 300 tera-joules* of gas per day to the whole of Western Australia.

Thiess Kentz, a leading Australian services provider for the energy and petrochemical sectors, awarded ComGroup the TETRA communications part of the project.

The remoteness of the project site called for the deployment of state-of-the-art secure telecommunications technology. Over 500 Sepura TETRA hand-portable and mobile radios — including vehicle, fixed and marine terminals — were selected to fulfil this unique project’s challenging and exacting communication requirements. In particular, Sepura mobile terminals were selected for their 10 Watt high output
power and for their gateway functionality which will provide greater coverage in such a remote and vast area.
