AI-powered facial recognition and voice identification enhance security at 891-capacity facility in Recreo

A new penitentiary facility incorporating Motorola Solutions technology was inaugurated this month at Penitentiary Unit No. 9 in Recreo, in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina, as part of the province's wider penitentiary infrastructure plan. The facility, which has capacity for 891 inmates, is designed to support security operations and day-to-day penitentiary management using artificial intelligence-enabled tools.

The technology deployed at the unit includes artificial intelligence capabilities for monitoring, facial recognition and voice identification on telephone calls. These tools add new layers of intelligence to the facility's operations, helping staff to identify and respond more quickly to potential risk situations.

Speaking at the inauguration, the governor of Santa Fe, Maximiliano Pullaro, said that investing in penitentiary technology was also a matter of taking care of those working on the front line. The technology's purpose, he noted, is to give teams more information and intelligence so they can make better decisions and carry out their work more safely.
