PCTEL Launches Interference Location Estimation for SeeHawk® Monitor Platform | IWCE2026

Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

PCTEL has announced the initial release of Interference Location Estimation for its SeeHawk® Monitor spectrum monitoring and uplink testing platform — a capability designed to significantly accelerate interference mitigation efforts by reducing time spent in the field.

The solution works by leveraging SeeHawk Monitor Remote Test Units (RTUs) deployed at radio sites or at key field locations. When a noise event is detected by multiple RTUs, SeeHawk Monitor performs a detailed analysis using proprietary algorithms to estimate the source location. Field personnel can then use mapping data to track the exact location using PCTEL’s SeeWave® interference locating system or another interference hunting tool.

The approach is cost-effective for radio system managers while remaining flexible enough for use in commercial, regulatory, and signal intelligence applications. Resource-constrained public safety radio networks stand to benefit particularly, as SeeHawk Monitor’s complete toolset also enables radio system managers to:

  • Monitor interference, featuring real-time and recorded spectrum analysis
  • Test outdoor uplink radio signal quality for more reliable coverage
  • Automate in-building uplink grid testing for fire and building code compliance
  • Track radio metrics to help determine when maintenance is required
  • Monitor downlink 4G/5G performance with RTUs deployed at critical venues
  • Prevent interference from in-building Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCES) by enabling key BDA commissioning tests

PCTEL will demonstrate Interference Location Estimation at IWCE Booth #2140 in Las Vegas, NV, on 18–19 March 2026. More information is available at: https://ow.ly/Ol9q50Ys4xr
