Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

Intelsat, renowned for operating one of the world's largest integrated satellite and terrestrial networks, has joined forces with Cloudcast Digital Limited (CDL), a technology-centric satcom solutions and service provider based in India. This collaboration aims to enhance satellite communication connectivity through the utilization of Intelsat's FlexMove. The primary objective is to extend land mobile services to customers situated in remote and challenging locations across India. Planetcast Media Services Limited (Planetcast) manages CDL's technology services.

Planetcast, a key player in teleport and video platform services, has a longstanding relationship with Intelsat as a media customer on Intelsat 17 and Intelsat 20. These satellites are pivotal for delivering video distribution services to clients in India.

In 2022, CDL and Intelsat introduced Flex services to India, leveraging Intelsat satellite capacity, a Flex gateway in Noida, India, and CDL's In-Flight and Maritime Connectivity (IFMC) license. This initiative resulted in the launch of FlexMaritime service, catering to vessels navigating Indian territorial waters. The Flex service streamlines the management and delivery of broadband services and connectivity for global enterprise and mobility customers.

Building on the success of Flex services, Intelsat and CDL are now expanding their collaborative efforts to introduce FlexMove capabilities over India. With FlexMove, CDL will provide services tailored for land-mobile applications. This facilitates prompt responses for supporting disaster relief operations, particularly for border security, police forces, and disaster relief agencies. The solutions include vehicle-mounted and backpack options for seamless communication. The expanded Flex services portfolio will encompass FlexEnterprise and FlexExec, facilitating the delivery of maritime, enterprise, business jet, land mobile, and media services to customers in India.

Gaurav Kharod, Regional Vice President of Intelsat – Asia Pacific, expressed their commitment to leveraging expertise and investments for customer expansion, welcoming strategic partners like Planetcast. Sanjay Duda, CEO of CDL, emphasized the decade-long successful partnership with Intelsat in the media industry and the natural progression into new areas, highlighting Intelsat's proven experience and success in diverse verticals. The collaboration aims to foster continued growth in tandem with the evolving needs of the Indian market.
