Innovation Showcased at the Forefront of Critical Communications at Comms Connect Melbourne 2025
Delegates and exhibitors repeatedly emphasised the necessity for systems capable of withstanding both environmental crises and sophisticated cyber threats, a priority shared by governments, emergency services and critical industry operators.
Comms Connect and WF Events successfully convened industry leaders, innovators and frontline professionals at Comms Connect Melbourne 2025, underscoring their commitment to advancing secure, resilient communications. The event highlighted critical developments across emergency services, utilities and transport, emphasising innovation, collaboration and preparedness in the face of environmental and cyber challenges.
Comms Connect Melbourne 2025, hosted by WF Events at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) from 15–16 October, brought together the brightest minds and key organisations across the critical communications sector. The event served as a premier platform for innovation, strategic dialogue and industry collaboration, reinforcing its pivotal role in shaping the future of secure and resilient communications.
The timing of the event held particular significance. In the aftermath of Cyclone Alfred and its devastating impact on Queensland, the urgency of dependable emergency communications was brought sharply into focus. Occurring concurrently with Cyber Security Awareness Month in Australia, the conference also addressed the rising importance of cyber resilience in safeguarding national communications infrastructure. Delegates and exhibitors repeatedly emphasised the necessity for systems capable of withstanding both environmental crises and sophisticated cyber threats, a priority shared by governments, emergency services and critical industry operators.
Throughout the conference, attendees engaged with emerging technologies spanning advanced radio systems, mission-critical broadband solutions and integrated digital platforms. Discussions centred on strengthening operational continuity, enhancing interoperability and preparing for increasingly complex risk environments. The exhibition floor showcased the latest in communications hardware, software and field-ready solutions, reflecting the sector’s collective drive toward innovation and reliability.
A major highlight of the event was the ARCIA Gala Dinner and Industry Excellence Awards, held on 15 October. The ceremony celebrated exemplary leadership and technical achievement within the Australian radio communications community.
Elnaz Karimpour, Embedded Software Engineer at Simoco, received the Emerging Talent Award in recognition of her outstanding technical proficiency and growing influence in the sector.
The prestigious Jonathan Livingstone Seagull Award, the highest honour of the evening, was awarded to Scott Manson, Projects Director and co-founder of Radlink Communications, acknowledging his enduring contribution, innovation and leadership within the industry.
