During the recent Easter celebrations in Málaga, a live trial brought together first responders, 5G-connected devices, drones, wearable cameras, and mission-critical communication tools, all powered by beyond 5G capabilities.

Fidal Project announced the successful completion of a groundbreaking large-scale trial for "Use Case 3: City Security Event," demonstrating the transformative potential of beyond 5G capabilities in enhancing public safety and emergency response. This initiative, a collaborative effort with Malaga Police, showcased advanced situational awareness, real-time information sharing, and seamless critical communications for first responders.

During the recent Easter celebrations in Málaga, a live trial brought together first responders, 5G-connected devices, drones, wearable cameras, and mission-critical communication tools, all powered by beyond 5G capabilities. The objective was clear: to enhance real-time situational awareness and resilient, secure collaboration for public protection and disaster relief (PPDR) forces.

Equipped with rugged smartphones and MCx applications, responders on the ground streamed live video and GPS data to a central control room. There, dispatchers:

  • Monitored activity via map layers
  • Managed teams and communications
  • Evaluated coverage, battery levels, and incident reports all in real time, all over 5G.

"This trial represents a significant leap forward in our commitment to public safety," stated an official "By integrating beyond 5G technology, we're empowering our first responders with unprecedented real-time insights and communication capabilities, ensuring a more efficient and effective response during critical events."

The "City Security Event" use case is built upon a foundation of key value indicators designed to ensure a robust, equitable, and efficient system:

  • Energy & Cost Efficiency: Optimizing resource consumption and operational costs for sustainable public safety.
  • Trust & Security for Sensitive Data: Ensuring the highest levels of data integrity and privacy for critical information.
  • Digital and Social Inclusivity: Broadening participation and access to essential services for all communities.
  • Flexibility & Human Protection: Adapting to dynamic situations while prioritizing the safety and well-being of citizens and responders.
  • Resilient Emergency Response: Building robust systems that can withstand and effectively manage unforeseen challenges.

This pioneering project, supported by FIDAL (Field Trials Beyond 5G) and GS SNS, and significantly funded by the European Union, positions Malaga at the forefront of smart city security solutions. It underscores a commitment to leveraging technological innovation for a safer and more secure urban environment.
