TCCA’s Critical Communications Broadband Group elects Tero Pesonen as new chair
Tero Pesonen, nominated and sponsored by VIRVE, the Finnish nationwide authority TETRA network, has been elected as the new chair of the TCCA’s Critical Communications Broadband Group (CCBG).
Tero takes over from Tony Gray of consulting group p3, who has led the CCBG since its formation in May 2012.
A Working Group of the TCCA, the CCBG drives the development and adoption of common global mobile broadband standards and solutions for users who operate in a mission critical or business critical environment. The CCBG also works with the TCCA’s Spectrum Group to lobby for appropriate harmonised spectrum in which to deploy critical broadband services and applications.
“Under the leadership of Tony Gray, the CCBG has developed into a highly influential group, with more than 120 members from around the world,” said Phil Kidner, TCCA CEO. “Tero’s knowledge of critical communications makes him an excellent choice to continue the work of the CCBG as we move forward with critical mobile broadband.”
“I am very humble to have been elected, and look forward to working together within the Group and other stakeholder to build on its achievements to date,” said Tero Pesonen. “With the upcoming 3GPP Release 12, the snowballing campaign for critical communications spectrum in Europe at 700MHz, and the many other issues that this Group addresses, we are set for a very active year.”
Tero has more than 15 years’ experience in critical communications, with responsibilities that have ranged from very technical assignments in global standards creation to understanding the field operational procedures of key players in critical communications. A previous Board member of the TCCA and of one of the founding members in the TCCA Technical Forum, Tero began his PMR career with Nokia, moving to EADS/Cassidian (now Airbus). Since 2013 he has been independent Critical Communications Professional. He is a frequent presenter, moderator and facilitator in major industry events such as Critical Communications World and PMRExpo.
