Motorola Solutions Expands Victoria Police ANPR and In-Car Video Deployment Across Highway Patrol Fleet

The expansion builds on Motorola Solutions' existing work with Victoria Police, which spans mission-critical radio communications and purpose-built mobility applications.

Motorola Solutions has expanded its long-standing partnership with Victoria Police, deploying Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and in-car video technology across the state's highway patrol fleet in Victoria, Australia. The deployment is intended to place real-time intelligence directly in the hands of officers on patrol, supporting faster and more precise decision-making in the field.

The technology is delivered through Motorola Solutions' L5M Mobile Camera System, which provides real-time, high-resolution intelligence to officers as events unfold. The system is designed to rapidly identify stolen or cloned plates and to flag unauthorised drivers. Sheriff's Office Victoria is among the other public safety agencies using ANPR systems to transform its operations.

The expansion builds on Motorola Solutions' existing work with Victoria Police, which spans mission-critical radio communications and purpose-built mobility applications. The company said the technologies are intended to improve safety, operational efficiency and incident awareness for frontline personnel.

Separately, Motorola Solutions recently hosted Victoria's Sheriff, Julie Brown, together with John Hartley, Senior Manager Operational Projects, and Aria Varvarigos of Sheriff's Office Victoria (SOV), at its Melbourne Design Centre on Collins Street. Geyash Geyash, Vice President of Frontline Mobile and Evidence Products at Motorola Solutions, also took part in the visit.

Discussions focused on the impact of the company's mobile License Plate Recognition (LPR) system, which SOV has used since 2019. Through evidence-based analysis, SOV has improved its ability to deploy finite resources effectively, resulting in higher visibility and better service for communities across the state.

One of the most recent advancements discussed was the integration of the LPR solution with standard vehicle infotainment systems via Apple CarPlay. The integration allows officers to receive plate reads and audio alerts through the vehicle's native interface, helping them remain focused on the road while improving both safety and operational efficiency.
