Three UK fire and rescue services have deployed Motorola Solutions' Guardian Hub command centre platform, enabling multi-agency collaboration across Norfolk, Suffolk and Hertfordshire. The cloud-based system covers more than 100 stations and a combined population of over 2.5 million people.
The platform allows the three services to jointly manage 999 emergency calls, dispatch crews and coordinate incident responses in mutual aid scenarios, while continuing to operate independently during routine day-to-day response. The system's value was demonstrated almost immediately after going live, when Suffolk FRS operators took calls and managed dispatch for Hertfordshire FRS during a large structure fire incident.
By consolidating control room operations into a shared hub, the services are able to collaborate more closely during major incidents, reduce duplication and strengthen resilience across county boundaries. The platform also eliminates the need for each service to maintain separate IT infrastructure, helping to reduce costs and relieve pressure on call handlers during periods of peak demand.
An additional benefit has been the ability for all control room staff to participate in planned training exercises without disrupting active operations — something not previously possible under separate systems.
Motorola Solutions' Guardian Hub is designed to support emergency services facing growing operational demands, providing a scalable and resilient model for cross-agency coordination and incident management.
