Record exhibitor and visitor growth, expanding international reach, and new focus on civil-military cooperation highlight Cologne trade fair

PMRExpo 2025, Europe’s premier trade fair for professional mobile radio and secure communications, concluded from 25 to 27 November with strong growth in both exhibitors and visitors. Hosting 268 exhibitors from 29 countries, the expanded exhibition space attracted approximately 6,000 trade visitors, representing a 10% increase compared to previous years. Notable attendance growth came from the Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden.

“Secure communication is critical to modern, resilient societies,”

stated Bernhard Klinger, Chairman of the Bundesverband Professioneller Mobilfunk (PMeV). “PMRExpo 2025 showcased the indispensability of high-availability communications infrastructures for public safety and critical services across Europe.”

The event offered an in-depth overview of current and emerging technologies in mission-critical communication. Exhibitors demonstrated solutions for secure, crisis-proof, and adaptable systems, spanning public safety operations, private 5G campus networks, cyber technologies, and drone applications. The PMRExpo Summit further examined these areas, combining insights from industry, academia, and public authorities to highlight practical benefits for police, fire brigades, and emergency services.

The “Forum Broadband,” organised by the Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio (BDBOS), facilitated exchanges between government representatives, hardware manufacturers, and telecommunications specialists, emphasizing the growing role of modern broadband for mission-critical mobile communications.

For the first time, PMRExpo addressed civil-military cooperation through the “PMRExpo meets Wehrtechnik” symposium, reflecting the rising importance of interoperability and secure communication structures amid geopolitical tensions and threats to critical infrastructure. High-level panels explored challenges and opportunities in cyber and drone technologies.

Innovation also took center stage with Hackathon@PMRExpo, supported by Corevas, where 40 young talents developed AI-based solutions for crisis communication. The winning team, DispatchBuddies, demonstrated an AI capable of analyzing live emergency calls to extract critical information in real time.

PMRExpo 2026 is scheduled to take place from 24 to 26 November in Cologne.
