Village of Oak Lawn Selects Federal Engineering for Emergency Communications Migration Project
The Village of Oak Lawn, Illinois has announced that Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) has been selected for project management services to oversee the migration of 911 emergency technology equipment from the existing center to the Village’s new regional 911 dispatch center. The Oak Lawn Regional Emergency Communications Center (OLREC) handles Police and Fire Dispatch for the Village of Oak Lawn, Village of Bridgeview, City of Burbank, Village of Evergreen Park, Village of Alsip, Village of Hodgkins, Village of Bedford Park, Village of Lyons, and the Central Stickney Fire Protection District.
Ms. Diana Tousignant, OLREC Director, commented:
“OLREC was in search of a firm with expertise in project management to oversee the relocation, installation, and testing of all existing and new 911 emergency technology equipment as we transition from the current facility to the new center. With Federal Engineering, we have found such a firm. OLREC provides regional dispatching services for the surrounding municipalities and agencies that encompass approximately thirty-five (35) square miles, more than 146,000 residents, large industrial areas, an international airport, two major medical centers, major shopping centers, and interstate roadways that effectively increase the population of residents and visitors every day.”
“OLREC is also the MABAS Division 21 primary dispatch center. This includes providing services to the following fire departments: Chicago Ridge, Hometown, North Palos, Roberts Park, and Summit. MABAS is an acronym for Mutual Aid Box Alarm System. MABAS offers a statewide mutual aid response system for fire, EMS and specialized incident operational teams. Representatives from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Department of Public Health – EMS Division and Illinois Fire Chiefs Association participate in this effort.” Ms. Tousignant went on to explain.
