ESInet Provides Completely Integrated Voice and Text-to-9-1-1 Services to the City of Brentwood Following a Smooth Transition

Today, Zetron announced that the Emergency 9-1-1 Center (Brentwood 911) of the City of Brentwood, Tennessee (USA) has effectively implemented Zetron's Max Call Taking on the statewide ESInet (Emergency Services IP Network). This implementation enables Brentwood 911 to provide fully integrated voice and text-to-9-1-1 services.

44,000 residents reside in a 44-square-mile area that Brentwood 911 serves just south of Nashville. The emergency communications team recently concluded its relocation to an entirely new facility, which occurred shortly after the statewide ESInet went live. Brentwood 911 opted to delay the launch of Text-to-9-1-1 until after the transition occurred for several reasons. These include the cost-effectiveness of implementing the service only once (as opposed to both before and after the transition), the efficiency of fully integrating text and voice, and the assurance that they would not be dependent on the internet for text during the transition period.

The physical relocation of the team and the integration of Zetron's MAX Call Taking with the statewide ESInet had to be executed in a manner that ensured minimal disruption to Brentwood 911 emergency services, given the critical nature of seconds in police, fire, and critical care emergencies.

"The process was relatively straightforward due to the fact that we had excellent local partners in Zetron and CommTech," said Kathleen Watkins, supervisor of emergency communications for Brentwood 911. "On the day of the move, we initially maintained a few dispatchers in the old building and a few in the new facility; however, everyone was fully operational in our new space within a few hours."

Twelve full-time dispatchers at Brentwood 911 now utilize the same MAX Call Taking console to receive both text and voice calls, as opposed to using separate applications for each. This streamlines the operations of the team and guarantees that residents have the flexibility to access 9-1-1 services in a manner that is most convenient for them and the specific emergency at hand. Last year, Brentwood 911 was among the initial MAX Call Taking clients of Zetron to successfully transition to the statewide ESInet in Tennessee.

Watkins continued, "Our dispatchers appreciate how simple it is to learn and utilize." "No additional training is necessary for the Text-to-9-1-1 integration, and we successfully completed the transition without any noticeable interruption to services subsequent to our cutover."
