Hexagon Helps City of Manaus, Brazil, Become Smart

Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division announced the city of Manaus, Brazil, has begun deploying Hexagon solutions in its City Cooperation Center (CCC), the nucleus of Manaus’ smart city transformation. The integrated technologies will deliver a real-time operational view of the city that will expedite emergency response and improve public works through automation and artificial intelligence (AI).

Established in 2021, Manaus CCC houses civil defense, municipal guard, traffic and urban mobility agencies. The center aims to improve the quality of life for 2.2 million residents by more effectively predicting and responding to citizen needs through better cooperation between public organizations.

Hexagon’s solutions provide the information and capabilities that enable CCC to automate incident detection and response, from public safety emergencies to parking violations to infrastructure repairs. Integrated with data from surveillance systems, weather stations, public applications and sensors located across the city, the Hexagon systems will generate notifications that are automatically analyzed and assigned to the appropriate department for response. The new, coordinated workflows will allow agencies to quickly identify and resolve problems and emergencies faster.
