Simi Valley Awards Federal Engineering Contract for Radio Consulting Services

City of Simi Valley, California has awarded Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to assist with the upgrade of the City’s public safety mobile radio system including the development of specifications and support of the system procurement.

Mr. Rajit Jhaver, FE director summarized the project: “Federal Engineering will serve as the City’s trusted advisor and expert in helping Simi Valley with the migration from their aging land mobile radio system to a new system that meets the City’s technical and operational needs. In addition to technical support, FE will assist the City with a competitive procurement of a system to meet the City’s needs.”

Mr. Jhaver continued: “FE has been serving clients in California for over 20 years and we understand the distinctive conditions of the State’s regions and geographical terrain. Partnering with the City, we will perform the following tasks:

  • Review the existing system documentation
  • Conduct user interviews and focus groups
  • Perform site surveys and existing system evaluation
  • Model existing radio coverage
  • Conduct FETeamCoverageTM
  • Deliver needs assessment and recommendations report
  • Develop technical specifications
  • Support the procurement process
  • Assist with proposal evaluations
