Wayne County’s first responders are getting a major boost in their wireless communications thanks to the FirstNet(link is external)® network expansion currently underway by AT&T. FirstNet added a new, purpose-built cell site located in the La Grange area. This new site is giving first responders on FirstNet – America’s public safety network – access to always-on, 24-hours-a-day priority and preemption across voice and data.

Congressman G.K. Butterfield - U.S. Representative, North Carolina, District 1: “I have long been a strong supporter of FirstNet and the work being done to provide the public safety community with state-of-the-art communications capabilities and resources. The men and women who put their lives on the line as first responders have long needed the advanced technological tools that will not only help keep them safe but will also help them do the best job possible to serve the residents of North Carolina and across the country. I applaud the work that the FirstNet Authority and AT&T are doing to fulfill their mission of delivering a communications system that meets public safety’s needs – today and for decades to come.”
