Gildeskål becomes the 200th municipality in Norway to adopt Nødnett, reinforcing nationwide emergency preparedness efforts.

An increasing number of Norwegian municipalities are integrating Nødnett into their emergency preparedness frameworks, with Gildeskål municipality in Nordland now becoming the 200th municipality to join the network.

The introduction of Nødnett in Gildeskål has been driven by emergency preparedness coordinator Lill Hilde Kaldager, who highlighted the significance of the milestone against the backdrop of heightened national attention on preparedness and crisis response. He said:

"The introduction of Nødnett is an important emergency preparedness measure in the municipality in a year where there has been an extra national focus on total defence, preparedness and society's ability to handle crises and unwanted incidents,"

Nødnett is Norway's national digital radio communication network, serving emergency services and other emergency response actors with secure and efficient communication capabilities. The network supports both routine daily operations and crisis response, providing a critical tool for establishing a common operational picture, coordinating activity across multiple response agencies, and enabling more effective incident management.

The addition of Gildeskål municipality marks a significant milestone in the nationwide rollout of Nødnett, reflecting the network's growing role as a cornerstone of municipal and national emergency preparedness strategy.
