Dr. Christoph Hübner takes the helm of Germany's federal digital radio authority in a ceremony marking a new chapter for secure communications infrastructure.

Dr. Christoph Hübner has been formally inaugurated as the new President of the Bundesanstalt für den Digitalfunk der Behörden und Organisationen mit Sicherheitsaufgaben (BDBOS), Germany's federal agency for digital radio communications used by public safety and security organisations. The inauguration ceremony took place on 11 June 2026 at the BDBOS headquarters in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, following Dr. Hübner's appointment on 27 May 2026.

The ceremony was presided over by Sebastian Wüste, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), who formally inducted Dr. Hübner into his new role. Wüste conveyed congratulations from Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, and praised the appointment, stating that with Dr. Christoph Hübner, an excellent agency would now be led by an equally excellent president. In his remarks, the State Secretary described the BDBOS as a "hidden champion" representing a central pillar of Germany's national security architecture, and expressed appreciation to the agency's staff for their continuous work in guaranteeing the operational readiness of the country's security authorities.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Hübner underscored the critical role of the agency he now leads.

"The BDBOS stands at the heart of our country's security architecture. And it does so on two fronts: with the BOS digital radio network, and with the federal government's own networks. Without the BDBOS high-security network, there is no secure communications, no exchange of information within the federal government and with the security authorities, and no digital radio across federal and state levels," he said.

Dr. Hübner further emphasised that secure communications represent a core national capability, not only in peacetime but equally in times of tension or active defence. He expressed his gratitude to the agency's workforce for their expertise and tireless commitment, which he said makes seamless, highly available communications possible, and stated that he was proud to serve as President of the BDBOS.
