Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania Completes Conversion to IP Standard for BOS Digital Radio
As part of a nationwide network modernization program led by BDBOS in cooperation with the federal government and the states, all TETRA exchanges and base stations are being migrated to a unified IP-based architecture.
The state of Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania, located in the North of Germany has successfully completed the conversion of its BOS digital radio infrastructure to the Internet Protocol (IP) standard, marking a significant milestone in the modernization of public safety communications.
As part of a nationwide network modernization program led by BDBOS in cooperation with the federal government and the states, all TETRA exchanges and base stations are being migrated to a unified IP-based architecture.
The final TETRA base station in Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania was migrated on 15 January, coinciding with the start of the operational year of the Authorized Agency for BOS Digital Radio in the state. This achievement establishes the technological foundation for future broadband data communication within the access network.
The transition to IP is a critical step toward the long-term evolution of BOS digital radio, supporting the planned move from TETRA to next-generation, broadband-based communications for security and rescue services.
With broadband communication now standard across many sectors, the completed migration ensures that public safety and critical communications in Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania are positioned to keep pace with ongoing technological developments.
