Amper Secures €50 Million COFIDES Investment to Support Teltronic Acquisition

Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

Grupo Amper has reached an agreement with COFIDES under which the Spanish development finance company will contribute €50 million from the Foreign Investment Fund (FIEX) towards the acquisition of the Teltronic Group, the Zaragoza-based specialist in mission-critical communications solutions. The investment is intended to expand production capacity in Spain and accelerate Teltronic’s exports, while strengthening the Group’s position in dual-use mission-critical communications.

The transaction will be executed through a capital increase in Amper Comunicaciones Críticas y Tácticas (Amper CCT), the Grupo Amper subsidiary responsible for carrying out the acquisition. Through FIEX, COFIDES will acquire a 32% stake in Amper CCT.

The agreement forms part of Amper’s wider strategy to grow its industrial and technological capabilities in Defence and National Security, with a particular focus on critical and tactical communications. According to the company, the integration of Teltronic will consolidate Amper’s leading position in Spain and place it among the major European players in the sector.

Amper describes the deal as transformational, citing significant technological, industrial and geographical synergies. The company expects the acquisition to generate substantial commercial, technological and operational benefits, reinforce its presence in strategic markets such as Brazil and Mexico, and support expansion into further high-potential markets, including the United States and Canada.

The acquisition of Teltronic, first announced to the market by Amper in May and June of this year, is expected to close in the coming days.

COFIDES’s entry into the share capital of Amper CCT further consolidates the strategic alliance between the two organisations. COFIDES is already a partner of Amper in Electrotécnica Industrial y Naval (Elinsa), a subsidiary specialising in energy management and storage, and is expected to become a shareholder in Offshore WindWaves, Grupo Amper’s offshore wind business, in the near future.

Enrique López, Chief Executive Officer of Amper, said:

“COFIDES joining our Critical and Tactical Communications business as a strategic partner represents significant support for our industrial project and growth strategy. The acquisition of Teltronic will enable us to establish one of Europe’s leading players in dual-use critical and tactical communications, strengthening Spain’s technological and industrial capabilities and contributing to Spain’s and Europe’s technological sovereignty and strategic autonomy.”

Ángela Pérez, Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of COFIDES, added:

“Through this transaction, COFIDES is supporting Amper’s investment and growth in the mission-critical communications segment, facilitating the acquisition of Teltronic, a company that combines innovation, proprietary technology and manufacturing capabilities with an international presence and a clear ambition to continue expanding globally.”
