Astronics Test Systems Announces World's Only DMR Tier 3 Handset Test Option

Astronics Test Systems this week announced firmware release 4.6 for its industry-leading LMR critical communications system analyzers.

This major release includes the world's only DMR Tier 3 handset test option and significant improvements to AutoTune execution times, as well as many other enhancements.

DMR Tier 3 Handset Testing:

  • Confirms programmed network model, Net ID, Site ID and Color Code
  • Confirms selected base station uplink and downlink frequencies
  • Reports Radio ID and channel assigned Group ID
  • TX physical layer measurements, including
    • Power Level
    • Frequency Error
    • Symbol Deviation
    • Frame Alignment
    • FSK Error
    • Magnitude Error
  • Measures RX device sensitivity while in DMR Tier 3 operation
  • Tests selected call types for both TX and RX (Group Call, Private Call, Emergency Call, etc.)
  • Sends and receives text messages in DMR Tier 3 Standard Mode
  • Tests Dynamic Group Number Assignment (DGNA) in devices configured to accept Over-The-Air DGNA

AutoTune Run-Time Improvements: 

  • Between 20 and 40% improvement in power measurement time, depending upon model

Additional AutoTune Enhancements: 

  • Kenwood NX Series:  Support for NX-720G/820G models
    • RX Sensitivity test added for NX-320 models
    • Improved general alignment test speed
    • Improved balance alignment informational messages and accuracy
    • Kenwood Viking:  Improved Assist Voltage Alignment for VP5430 at 700/800MHz
    • Motorola APX:  Added support for APX8000H/HXE
    • Motorola MOTOTRBO improvements including addition of N band designator for 350MHz models

Other Enhancements:

  • Extension of RF range down to 100kHz
  • Added support for non-standard DPL/DCS codes
  • Mulitple improvements to TETRA TMO test option
