Turkcell and Ericsson Exhibit Successful Implementation of 5G Network SlicinN

Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

A prosperous 5G Standalone (SA) proof of concept (PoC) was completed by Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and Turkcell (NYSE: TKC; BIST: TCELL), reaching a significant milestone in their collaboration to develop a network slicing solution. The companies collaboratively showcased the ability to instantiate customized 5G network slices in real time to fulfill customers' connectivity requirements, the capacity of multiple slices to support a single 5G device that caters to both enterprise and consumer user profiles, and the differentiation of charging across different slices.

The proof-of-concept illustrated the differentiation between 'work' and 'personal' applications on a 5G device, such as a mobile phone, through the use of distinct profiles that are associated with dedicated network segments. This feature gives subscribers, app developers, Turkcell, and enterprises enhanced performance and flexibility in their use cases; it substantiates the importance of having a 5G SA network.
