Fredric Aasbø and Icom team up for 2017 season.

Icom’s initial partnership with Fredric Aasbø, the 2015 Formula Drift World Champion, resulted in two wins in China in 2016. This year, VHF Group is strengthening the partnership further by signing on as co-title sponsor of Aasbø’s European program, alongside Toyota of Norway.

“I am super excited for this summer!”, Fredric commented. ”VHF Group and Team Toyota are all gearing up for the Gatebil Festivals in Norway and in Sweden. We are joining over 60.000 people from across the world at these events, and it will be a lot of fun!”

A lucky few guests from VHF Group’s dealer constellations in Norway and in Sweden will be taken for passenger rides in the Icom Toyota 86-X pro drift car, sporting over 900 horsepower to the wheels. Fredric promises an exhilarating experience, going sideways at over 200 km/h, in a full blown race car that goes through a set of tires in 40 seconds.

”We are looking to include our trusted customers, dealers and guests in this initiative by giving them an on-track experience they’ll never forget”, says Morten Stomperud, VHF Group CEO. ”At the same time, we want to showcase and promote our class leading radio communications systems in this emerging market. We are looking forward to an exciting season with Fredric and his team!”

The two events are held at Mantorp Park in Sweden (June 16-18) and at Rudskogen Motorsenter in Norway (July 6-9). Aasbø is part of a hectic schedule in the USA, but promises to have everything ready in time for the Scandinavian events:

”We’ve used Icom radio communications systems in the States for over five years, and have never had a single issue. I’m completely dependent on being able to talk to my crew chief, spotter and mechanics at any given time, and our strong communication was a direct factor in winning the World Championship in 2015. I feel very lucky to be working with the best people and products in the business, and I’m looking forward to seeing you at the track this summer!”
