Frequentis to support StädteRegion Aachen with Digital Radio

Source: MCCResources

Frequentis achieved a big milestone within this project on the 10th of December with the “first call” at the command and control centre of the StädteRegion Aachen, which is placed at the fire and rescue services Aachen.

It’s one of some elected pilot command and control centres of the Non-Police Public Safety Authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Back in December 2013 Frequentis has been awarded the contract to connect the roughly 60 integrated command and control centres for fire and rescue services and emergency medical services to the German BOS digital radio network. Via control centre concentrators and the German standardized “Digitalfunk-Stecker” (specific digital radio connector), all 60 non-police command and control centres are using digital radio soon.

The “first call” is the functional demonstration of the installation and has been using the whole infrastructure – the working position, the IP-connection and the BOS digital radio network. Lothar Albrecht (head of the command and control centre) and Christof Koerentz (assistant head of the command and control centre) presented the new functions and possibilities of the communications system, which has been in use for the first time in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Minister of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia, Ralf Jäger, took as well a look on the project progress on this years’ PMRExpo.
