Jönköping Airport in Sweden to acquire new MOTOTRBO communications system

The Swedish airport has chosen to purchase a new Motorola MOTOTRBO communications system that will be delivered by Celab Communications.

To simplify future development of the airport, the Jönköping airport has decided to acquire a new communications system. The new solution will be a Motorola Solutions MOTOTRBO system, a digital two-way radios system that provide increased capacity and better performance.

The airport has, due to its central location a unique position with great potential. The airport, owned by the Jönköping Municipality, actively develops business in terms of both passenger numbers and cargo. As part of the active development, the decision was made to update their communications.

The new MOTOTRBO system will be delivered by Celab Communications AB. MOTOTRBO is Motorola Solutions product line based on the digital two-way radios standard DMR (Digital Mobile Radio). Digital technology provides besides improved performance and reliability also more features and easier integration with other technologies. For example, it also offers a communications solution that integrates with the air traffic control tower operator systems.

MOTOTRBO also supports both analog and digital communications. Jönköping Airport already has a number of MOTOTRBO radios that now easily can be reprogrammed, so that they can be used onto the new system.

"Celab has supplied communications equipment to Jönköping Airport for many years now and we are pleased that they can now take the next step in developing new solutions that address our need for reliable systems for the future," says Stefan Karlsson, Head of Operations at Jönköping Airport.

The new solution will be utilized by virtually all categories of staff at the airport such as from baggage handlers, maintenance personnel, security personnel and emergency services. In addition, nearby construction firms are offered to lease capacity on the network.

Commissioning of the network is planned for the first quarter 2015
